Story:

N3rDk0r is the pet name for a music project that my friend Chandler Beattie (a.k.a. CH&LR) and I (a.k.a. DJ DlimitR) are working on. We plan to release an album that will contain more than 10 full length songs and another 10 - 20 tracks and remixes that will cater to DJs, music composers, video game enthusiasts, as well as lovers of music the world over.

The style of music varies from hard-driving Techno to slow-grooving Ambient to various forms of Classical music. Our main focus is rooting Tehcno and Electronica Dance music with solid music-theory based melodies and chord structure. Our specialty is including what we call "theory hooks," which are intentional twists on music-theory. We also work hard on tipping our hats to all of the "Nerds" amongst us by mixing in video game sound effects and movie references and by paying homage to various electronic devices (such as specific toys, computers and synthesizers).

We create our music mostly through software, but have a small hardware studio which allows us to stay focused on "real" synthesis as well as giving us some latitude with effects and nuances with sounds that are not possible with software.

Ultimately, we lovers of music. What we create is passionate and memorable. We plan to release the tracks to DJs, composers and nerds everywhere -- but since we do not cater to any one genre, we believe our music works on many planes.

History:

We started out as "Intellect" in 1992, writing music using a very early MIDI package called "Voyetra Sequencer Plus Professional" which ran in MS-DOS. The music was first realized on the original Sound Blaster / Yamaha OPL-3 chip, which was a very cheap and horrible sounding synthesizer. We created a few fun tracks, very simple video game influenced ditties with a decidedly Baroque flavor. Knowing we had no chance to go anywhere with good music theory, but low-quality electronic sounds, we took the plunge and purchased a robust piece of audio equipment, the Roland SCC-1. This synthesizer (along with a MIDI keyboard) gave Chandler and I the chance to find our "butter zone," and thus we created over 150 songs between 1992 and 1996. We compiled and polished around 30 tracks and submitted our works to several video game companies hoping to get hired as music composers. We had talent, but not nearly enough traction to move forward with anything professional. Intellect died around 1996 -- and Chandler and I stopped working on music together until the turn of the millennia.

In 2002, we reconvened and resurrected some of our original "Intellect" tracks and remastered them with even better hardware and software synthesizers. We called the project "MFVG" (Music For Video Games). The tracks were much more textural and fitting with the current trends in electronic music, but were still the very formulaic songs that were written in the early 1990s. We intended to add more to the songs and turn them into actual pieces of composed music, but we were living in different cities and it was very difficult to keep ourselves focused. Once again, the project died...

In 2008 we decided to give it one more go (the third time's a charm). In March, we sat down and mapped out a plan to work on our music on our own time with our own computers / hardware in our own homes. We purchased similar controllers, synthesizers and software packages and devised a system of being able to pass ideas back and forth via email and telephone. The advent of YouTube, as well as the new movement in independent electronic music gave us the confidence to devote a good deal of time working on tracks that were by this time over fifteen years old. We also decided to start entirely new tracks and create multiple versions that we each worked on separately while convening every few weeks to meld our musical spheres.

We have struck gold! We are VERY excited about the material we currently have -- and are excited about our prospects. Now, for the first time, it's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN. World, we hope you're ready for us
